Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Artistic Director Barbara Gaines set this production in a sound stage in 1940s London. The play-within-a-play focuses a troupe of stage and film actors who are attempting to film The Comedy of Errors immediately before the Blitz. Second City veteran Ron West provides the framing scenes for this unique setting of one of Shakespeare’s early comedies.
Winner of four Jeff Awards, including Best Director, Best Adaptation and Best Play.

Lavina assisted Frank Galati on the world premiere of this musical at Victory Gardens Theater. Music and lyrics by Michael Smith; puppets and visual design by Blair Thomas & Co. In addition to assisting Mr. Galati in rehearsals, Lavina created and maintained a rehearsal blog for the production.
