Roe

by Lisa Loomer
Produced by Asolo Repertory Theatre
Opened March 2018 in the Mertz Theatre

Taking place from the 1970s to the present with characters on both sides of the issue spanning from decidedly pro-choice to decidedly pro-life, Roe reflects the polarization in America today while illuminating the heart and passion each person has for their cause.

Sarasota Herald-Tribune: “Lavina Jadhwani’s almost musical staging… keeps the storytelling invigorating with plenty of surprises, especially for those who don’t know much of the history… a compelling story that gets you to think and feel and have something to talk about long after the final curtain.”

BroadwayWorld: “Much of the play’s success must fall on the fluid direction by Lavina Jadhwani. She has created a world where many of us have lived through but didn’t know the specifics… It’s beautifully staged. The play is strong in and of itself, but Jadhwani has made it into something more. She has turned ROE into a must-see experience.”

YourObserver: “Director Lavina Jadhwani follows the playwright’s fancy footwork. She’ll turn on a dime, and shift the tone from trash TV to ponderous docudrama before you know what hit you.”

Featuring Michelle Aravena, Tracy Michelle Arnold, Jordan Brown, Nate Burger, Mary Ellen Everett, Colleen Lafeber, David Lively, Giordana Spagnolo, Kedren Spencer, Bri Sudia, Jade Turner, and Terri Weagant.
